Open Window // Open Call

stop-gap projects is seeking proposals for a window-based exhibition to take place over the summer. We are looking for playful works that engage the idea of window space and can be installed within/on our large, street-facing windows and be viewed from the outside. [**Deadline extended to April 28th]

Location: stop-gap projects has two 77x78 in. windows that have great visibility from the street in Downtown Columbia. The inside of the windows may be used as well as the gallery space in front of the windows. All materials and media approaches are welcome. Note: any works that include technology cannot need to be turned on/off or monitored

Media: As long as it can be removed at the end without damage to the windows, any material approach is welcome. Do keep in mind the effects of prolonged, direct sun exposure to the works and materials you will be using!  Works can be made/proposed by individuals or collaborative groups.

Install & De-install: In most cases, artists will be responsible for the installation of the works and any associated costs and materials. De-install is also the responsibility of the artists. We will consider works that are shippable and easily installed as well.  (We hope to be able to provide a small stipend/budget).

Dates: We will work with the artist(s) on the specific timing and can be flexible. We are looking to have work on display starting the first week of June and on display through August. Note that there will NOT be a reception for the show.

TO APPLY: submit a proposal via Google Form. In addition to the form questions, attach a PDF of your proposal. It should include a description of the window-based work you want to show, the proposed title, the materials/strategies, and visual examples (mock-ups, sketches, and/or past works that relate). It would also be great if you could share why this format and stop-gap projects is an interesting site for this work.

Proposals due April 28 @ midnight (EXTENDED)
